Garmin BlueChart g2 and g2 Vision v2009 (Thu, 11 Jun 2009 00:00:00 GMT) Garmin, Ltd. has announced a voluntary product safety recall of the 2009 version of its marine cartography data card, BlueChart g2 and g2 Vision. Affected data cards were sold between April 8 and June 3, 2009. Garmin has received reports of data cards giving inaccurate depth indications in waters along the coast of Sweden and Denmark. As a result, Garmin has chosen to recall all 2009 versions of the BlueChart g2 and g2 Vision cards sold in micro SD/SD card format. Customers are advised not to use these data cards for navigation.

Defective Trident LP Gas Hose Pigtails (Thu, 11 Jun 2009 00:00:00 GMT) Trident rubber reported approx. 265 defective trident marine LP gas 20 inch pigtail hoses manufactured by M.B. Sturgis Inc. have been distributed to marine retail outlets and possibly sold to customers. Failure of this product could cause an LP gas (propane) leak, and possible fire or explosion. These pigtail hoses are connected to LP gas tanks and used to supply on-board LP gas appliances, such as galley stoves and heaters.

Cummins Mercruiser Diesel (Thu, 14 May 2009 00:00:00 GMT) Approximately 496 Zeus 3500 and Zeus 3800 propulsion systems with serial numbers between 35216516 and 46988020 are defective due to immroperly heat-treated clamp ring bolts. These bolts may fail, and in extreme cases could result in a loss of watertight integrity to the hull. This is considered unlikely due to engineered redundance and the fact there are 20 bolts on each flange. owners of boats with potentially affected Zeus propulsion systems should contact their dealers for further information and instructions regarding corrective action. All Family Craft Bay Charger 22 Foot Outboard B (Thu, 14 May 2009 00:00:00 GMT) The natural ventilation supply and exhaust openings are not sufficient for the shared net volume of the console, and bilge area below the motor well of approximately 34 aggregate net cubic feet. This aggregate net volume requires a minimum of 9.6 square inches for the supply and exhaust venitilation openings, each. There are non ignition protected switches in the console. The only ventilation provided for this shared net volume is in the center console which has approximately 2 square inches of aggregate natural supply ventilation openings. One square inch vent grill opening on each side near the top of the console. There was no exhaust openings or exhaust ducts originating in the lower third of any of the common compartments.

Volvo Penta of the Americas Gasoline Marine Engines (Tue, 10 Mar 2009 00:00:00 GMT) Volvo Penta fuel injected 3.0GXI gasoline marine engines manufactured between July and December 2008 may contain an incorrectly machined fuel line connection which could allow fuel leakage when the engine is operated. All Volvo 3.0GXI fuel injected engines with serial numbers between 4012245468 - 4012256356 must be inspected. Mercury Marine Smartcraft Digital Throttle and Shift (DTS) Engine Controls (Fri, 30 Jan 2009 00:00:00 GMT) Some inboard and outboard vessels equipped with Mercury Smartcraft digital throttle and shift (DTS) engine controls may encounter a lever fault alarm. This alarm will produce a six second tone and generate a fault pop-up on the vessel view screen or other Smartcraft instrument. When this fault mode occurs, the throttle will be limited to 65 percent of available throttle and the shift position will remain in the gear location the engine was in when the fault occurred.

Volvo Penta 3.0GLP-J, 4.3GL-J, 4.3GL-JF Engines (Tue, 25 Nov 2008 00:00:00 GMT) Volvo Penta recently discovered that certain engine models 3.0GLP-J; 4.3GL-J; and 4.3GL-JF gasoline sterndrive engines, within the serial number range: 4012250992 through 4012255637 may contain carburetors which have float bowl retaining screws that were not properly torqued during carburetor assembly. Fuel may leak from these screws when the engine is operated.

Mercury Marine Optimax, EFI Outboard Engines (Tue, 21 Oct 2008 00:00:00 GMT) Some mercury 2.5 liter Optimax (135, 150, 175 horsepower) and 2.5 liter EFI (150, 200 horsepower) outboard engines are equipped with shift links that have insufficient weld penetration between the bracket and shift cable and upper shift shaft attaching studs. This could result in stud breakage and loss of shift control.
